As a petroleum technologist and frequent translator of Russian technical materials, I often felt frustrated by the lack of good English-Russian bilingual dictionaries of oilfield technology terms. Our new dictionary was designed to fill this void, particularly now that the lowered political barriers between the Republics of the Former Soviet Union and the West have opened a wide range of opportunities for new trade and technology exchange. This comprehensive dictionary, soon to be followed by its Russian-English counterpart, covers the entire range of onshore and offshore technologies from exploration through reservoir engineering; drilling theory, practice, equipment and tools; well completion, stimulation and servicing; enhanced oil recovery methods; oil and gas treatment, gathering, storage, pipelining and other transportation.
